We believe in Service.
Message from our Founder
When I look at the photo of me standing with my parents, as the first in my family to be sworn in as an attorney, I’m reminded of a truth that has shaped my life: achievement is never solitary. It is built on the shoulders of those who believe in us long before the world recognizes our potential.
As an immigrant from Cape Verde, I understand the barriers children in underserved communities face, and the power of unwavering support. My family, mentors, and community carried me through challenges and into my work as a Care and Protection defense attorney, where I have seen how instability can dim a child’s sense of worth and hope. Those experiences fueled my commitment to create a space where children feel supported, guided, and safe.
That vision became the Excel and Ready Community Program (ERCP).
At ERCP, we do more than tutor, we nurture, protect, and elevate. Our programming bridges the opportunity gap through academic mastery, creative enrichment, mentorship, and year-round learning. With a 90%+ retention rate, our students and tutors show what is possible when consistency and care are prioritized.
This work is powered by a team whose dedication embodies our promise: “Leading with Excellence. Serving with Care.” Launching ERCP in Pawtucket has required courage and heart, and I’m deeply grateful for everyone who has helped us build this home away from home.
To our families, tutors, mentors, and supporters - thank you. You make it possible for young people not just to excel, but to thrive.
My journey has taught me that when children are wrapped in care and surrounded by people who refuse to give up on them, their potential is limitless. ERCP exists to make that truth real for every child who walks through our doors.
With gratitude,
